July, 19, the Ministry of Agriculture issued Document No. 9. Tongwei Co., Ltd. is ascertained to be the support unit for MOA’s key lab building in aquaculture, livestock, poultry nutrition and healthy farming. Previously, the assessment panel of Ministry of Agriculture key laboratory paid a visit to Tongwei with officials from Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Agriculture and Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Farm Food for the purpose of site inspection of Tongwei’s MOA key laboratory application. The panel gave high credit to Tongwei’s 30-year dedication to China’s aquaculture business, as well as the testing capability, testing level, and management level of TW Testing Center. Pertinent opinions and suggestions were given on Tongwei’s application and reporting materials. The panel unanimously agreed that Tongwei is qualified for MOA key lab requirements, and wished that the company could join the State’s discipline group with more efforts on R&D.

The MOA key lab is reportedly to be the crucial platform for state-level science and technology innovation activities, innovative achievement cultivation, and international communications and contacts in agricultural science and technology. The 2010 Document No.1 and the State Mid- and Long- term Planning Compendium for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020) have both clearly brought forward the importance of strengthening key lab building nationwide. The purpose is to enhance coordination and cooperation, academic exchange and resource sharing, and finally strengthen China’s international competitiveness by science and technology.

The state’s approval for TW key lab is a living testimony for Tongwei’s efforts and achievements in aquaculture, livestock and poultry R&D. The company has joined the scientific research frontline, and will keep enhancing talent introduction, equipment and software configuration with stronger Industry-Academia-Research cooperation, as well as more project applications in the State’s discipline group and standard revision project, making more contributions to China’s aquaculture, livestock and poultry sectors.

The Testing Center of Tongwei Co., Ltd. is the first independent, advanced and improved testing laboratory in China. It can carry out tests in food and feed pesticide residues, drug residues, microorganisms, heavy metals and over 134 other health indicators. Its testing reports are recognized in 58 countries and regions. Under the leadership of Chairman Liu Hanyuan, Tongwei owns over 500 technicians, among which over 100 have received Master’s and Doctoral Degrees, and over 150 experts with mid-and high-level professional ranks, experts with special allowance from the State Department, and experts from industry committees, and government project review panels.

From the Metal Cage Culture and the Structure in Running Water Streams to the formation of MOA key lab, Tongwei deserves its name in promoting China’s aquafeed and feed development. April, 19, 2013 Tongwei set up the ’Tongwei Science and Technology Award Fund’ with an input of ￥RMB 100 million for the global acquisition of research findings in agriculture and animal husbandry domains. Two months later, the final project acquisition and evaluation method were finalized. The project acquisition, concerning mainly about farming techniques, is targeted to all participants and institutes within the sector, with the classification of tech-project award, individual award for research, and individual award for application, each rewarding 3-5 items (persons). The award amount depends on the actual value generated after project application transfer, with the highest award of RMB￥ 1 million per item. All materials shall be submitted to the Office of Tongwei Co., Ltd. Technology Center by September, 30, 2013. In addition, the Tongwei aqua-tech award will be set up for recipients in research and application, and will be presented in April each year at the Tongwei Aquaculture Science and Technology Forum. At the same time, Tongwei Research Institute was established, gathering scholars, experts, and elites from the sector for promoting scientific and creative research and application.
