2011-11-29

Recently, the livestock & poultry research institute of Tongwei Co., Ltd. successfully carried out a test on comparative study on the feeding effect of different diet structures for pigs. The study analyses the feeding effects of three feed types: a.commercial complete compound feed; b.corn-soybean meal feed with no additives, and c.traditional corn grains. The results show that the pork from type a tastes juicy, tender and looks delicate, but has thicker muscle fibers; pork from type c tastes juicy, tender, but the texture is weaker with a little bit smell; type b ranks between type a and c with medium texture.

Conducted by Cheng Yuanfang, vice director of the institute, the test lasted for 4 months. The results indicate the traditional feed could actually provide only enough energy with insufficient nutrients. The health level of pigs raised by traditional feed is low. While the pork from compound feed which is formulated to meet the diet needs of pigs at different stages is apparently more delicious and better satisfies the health demands. Additionally, compound feed has a much higher feed utilization rate, and is more significant in energy-saving aspect.
