At the signing ceremony, Mr. Liu extended the warmest welcome to the guests. He said, the last visit of the CCC vice president Dr. Dave Hickling, and Director General of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Mr. Fred Gorrell promoted the signing of the MoU today. He sincerely hoped for in-depth contacts in the long run with win-win co-operations.

Ms. Buth said at her address, Tongwei is a company that has a focus on technology and innovation. I am very impressed that under the leadership of Chairman Liu this company has developed from a fish farm with a few metal cages and hand operated feed machine to a successful feed company with over 50 feed mills. This clearly shows the vision, open mindedness and cooperative approach Chairman Liu has had in building this great company. And the focus on research and development over the years has been the cornerstone of building Tongwei as the successful business it is today. It is our honor to partner with Tongwei in short term and long term research projects to grow and innovate our respective businesses and industries. China is an important market for Canadian canola seed, oil and more recently meal. With mutual technical cooperation with Tongwei we hope to increase the use of canola products for fish, shrimp, livestock, and poultry production.

Mr. Yan Hu also addressed the ceremony. He said, Canada is a big rapeseed producer and exporter. Its development of canola industry has become the best example of success. Currently, Canola not only has “double-low” traits, but has also become efficient industry with top quality. The CCC also is actively involved in the canola products in terms of producing, marketing, R&D, training as well as public relations. Tongwei is largest leading aqua feed manufacturer in China or even in the world. It specialized in the production and sales of fish, shrimp, crab, and poultry feed, and its annual feed production capacity reaches 5 million tons. We have big raw material supplier network with suppliers with great competence. We are committed to establish strong ties with raw material suppliers. We greatly welcome the CCC led by Ms. Buth to be our partner. We attach great importance to our cooperation in business trade and technical area. He continued, President Buth, before today, we were still strangers, but from today on, we will become partners and familiar friends. We believe, with the efforts of the CCC, the application of top quality canola products of Canada will have great prospects at Tongwei and in China.
